Fish On! - Lake Fushimi

This photo pretty much shows how excited I am. I don't like getting up early and these guys are hard core fishermen so they like an early start. For this episode, we are staying in Hearst and driving to Lake Fushimi in the morning which about an hour drive from Hearst.

Middle of June and we are out to start a new show starting it's second season and it's becoming my worst nightmare. I know absolutely nothing about fishing and here I am about to film a fishing show. Even worse? They want to do it in French. Great. I know absolutely nothing about fishing or French.

To get an early start, we have to be ready to leave at 5AM and my weather app says 12 degrees to start the morning with a high of 21 degrees by noon. By 7AM, we are on the water.

When Neil told me we were doing a fishing show, I made sure to watch all the episodes from last year. Couple things I noticed as a viewer. The cameras we had didn't really have a wide enough lens to be in a small boat so all of the camera angles were very tight and kind of claustrophobic.

My one goal was to shoot as far back as I good, use a GoPro for cutaway shots and if possible, try and get off the boat. One thing I really noticed is that every single shot was from inside the boat. Nothing from shore so I made that my goal. I wanted to see if they would drop me off somewhere and film from shore.
