Six Week Student Internship

JAN 2017

When I first enrolled into the Television Broadcasting program at Algonquin College, I asked about internship opportunities. The best opportunity was a six week internship at CBC Toronto. As soon as I heard that, that was my goal.

It was not an easy program to get into. You have to apply and get accepted. It's open to all Ontario colleges with a television broadcasting program and they only take four students. Algonquin College, Niagara College, Sheridan College, and Fanshawe College.

After our group meeting, we were assigned different departments by week. This building in downtown Toronto is absolutely humongous. We are here for six weeks and the first week alone is touring the various departments and getting familiar to where everything is. First week, I've been assigned a different department for each day. Can't wait to get started!!!

Day One: Introduction to CBC

Day Two: DNG/Resources Tour

Day Three: The National Tour

Day Four: Editing/Field Tour

Day Five: Local News Tour

This was my schedule for the next five weeks:

  1. EFP Week

  2. ENG Week

  3. Studio Week

  4. Post Production Week

  5. Intern Assignment Week
