The Timmins Rock

The McIntyre Arena, affectionately known to locals as "The Mac," is an iconic historical arena and community hub located at 85 McIntyre Rd in Timmins (Schumacher), Ontario. Built in 1938 by J.P. Bickell, the president of McIntyre-Porcupine Mines and chairman of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the facility was designed to bring top-tier recreation to northern mining communities.

Today, the building stands as an officially designated municipal heritage property and remains the beating heart of local hockey and events.

The McIntyre Arena was built in an era before hockey games were broadcast on television. The NOJHL team the Timmins Rock play out of this building and Eastlink would LOVE to be able to broadcast home games, there's no way we can do it because of the placement of cameras.

You can clearly see in this photo that the stands along the side don't go back far enough and not high enough to look like the normal angles that people are used to watching for hockey.
